Albino Rocca’s Dolcetto d’Alba is drawn from a single vineyard in Barbaresco, a first-rate location with an east to south-east exposure for the most part. The vines here were planted in 1960 and 1978, and thanks to their maturity and the sensible yields they offer, this wine displays more intensity and texture than many a garden-variety Dolcetto d’Alba.
Raised in stainless steel for six months, the 2020 is full of zest and mouth-watering acidity, opening with a lovely interplay of red fruits, violets and spice before deepening on the palate with a plush texture, deftly structured by soft, juicy tannins and balancing freshness.
“The 2020 Dolcetto d'Alba is soft, supple and easy to like. Lifted floral and spice notes give this mid-weight Dolcetto lovely aromatic presence. Aging in steel keeps the flavors fresh.” 88 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous
