Hickinbotham Clarendon Grenache 2020

| /

The Wine

Sourced from the highest ridge of our Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard from a small plot (0.9 ha) of Grenache planted in 1962. Hand-picked and selectively berry sorted. 100% destemmed, crushed and tipped into 1800L ‘cocciopesto’ stone egg shaped amphoras. The fermentation occurred in the amphoras, a gentle maceration of only wetting the cap, and 72% remained remained on skins for 156 days. No pressings are used in this wine. Matured exclusively in amphora for a total of 11 months

The Reviews

95 POINTS – Gabrielle Poy, The Real Review, March 2022

"Spicy, floral, raspberry, red cherry, a sweet clay-like earthiness, almond and flowering basil? Well, hello McLaren Vale Burgundy. Fresh raspberry, a little earthy and nutty, but succulent, and yet, all this firm brick dusty tannin pushing through, almost peppery in a way, a smattering of dried herb, some cranberry acidity on a long slightly warm finish, but gee energy is pulsating through this wine. It’s terrific." 95Pts, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
