Castiglione Falletto, Piedmont,
Located in the heart of the Langhe hills, at the top of the village of Castiglione Falletto, the Vietti wine cellar was founded in the late 1800's by Carlo Vietti. The estate has gradually grown over the course of time, and today the vineyards include some of the most highly-prized terroirs within the Barolo winegrowing area. Each year we are lucky enough to receive small amounts of these wines to offer our customers. The Barolo's get most of the attention but the value picks are the Barbera's, while these wines are very much drinkable now, with time in the cellar they evolve into almost something truly special, almost Barolo-like. We have been fortunate to try some of these wines with age and they are remarkable.
Vietti's Barbera d'Alba Vigna Scarrone sees the fruit sourced from an steep terraced single vineyard site that is located right under the Vietti household in Castiglione Falletto. What comes off this special vineyard is a benchmark Barbera that we highly recommend you try.
