Our Long Way Around Tinto is based on Swan valley Grenache blended with Syrah from Margaret River and Pinot Noir from Porongurup (plus a little Chenin to boot). These were all made separately in Margaret river and Porongurup, whole-berry processed, with three weeks on skins and maturation in puncheons for a few months. This was followed by larger format at home base until last month.
Cinnamon and red cherry scents, some cranberry too, a bit of mocha in the mix. The palate feels like similar characters, quite a lot of grip and pucker, a bit short but the gummy-rusty tannin profile is nice albeit not all up integrated. Feels like an easy drinking style with an aim to be more complex. Feels good for carafe and tumbler. Like the vibe.
