Maizières hails from a sunny lieu-dit situated east of the village, planted in 1997 to both Chardonnay and Pinot. Dureuil organically farms two hectares here, and while the Pinot is blended into the Rully Rouge, the Chardonnay fruit is bottled into this outstanding single-vineyard wine. The soils are lighter clay/limestone, but the wine itself is more generous than the Domaine’s Rully villages.

This is really magic—a deep and layered, yet beautifully balanced white Burgundy of great class. It offers waves of honeysuckle and ripe nectarine fruit and a zesty, crystalline close. It’s like a truly great Chablis. The note below captures it well but I would certainly score it several points higher.

“The 2016 Rully Maizières Blanc was severely damaged by frost, yielding a meager 17 hectoliters per hectare, but its quality is some consolation for the modest quantity. Offering up aromas of preserved lemon and almond paste, it's a medium to full-bodied, glossily textural white with lovely purity and succulence. It's a touch richer and more gourmand than the regular Rully, as it hails from a sunny, gently sloping parcel.” 89 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

Outstanding. A trace of matchstick character can be found on the slightly riper yet super-fresh nose of pear and apple compote that is trimmed in soft wood and lemon rind wisps. Once again there is a beguiling mouth feel to the caressing medium-bodied flavors that possess better vibrancy on the clean, very dry and focused finale. This is a very good Rully villages and worth considering.” 89 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound
