The Wine:
The Stevens family’s ‘Glen Oak’ vineyard is the southern-most of our Semillon vineyards and features a combination of light sand and red clay soils. The vineyard is dry grown with the earliest plantings being 1911.

Harvested in the early hours of the morning, the fruit was lightly crushed and pressed, before a relatively cool fermentation. The wine spent minimal time on yeast lees before being bottled early to maintain its freshness. No oak fermentation or maturation.

An incredibly vibrant green colour which belies its age. The nose is quite unevolved with bright citrus notes and a hint of toasty, waxy, bottle development beginning to show. The palate is benchmark Hunter Valley Semillon with a power and intensity of fruit only seen in great vintages. At 12 years of age, this wine is now just beginning to enter its peak and will continue to develop for another 15 years.
