Region: Montalcino, Italy
Grape: Sangiovese
First Glance: Powerful, complex, age-worthy Riserva
Acclaim: 94 points

All of Podere Brizio's vines are located on the Southwest-facing slope of the Montalcino Hill. This is the warmest area of Montalcino, and vineyard overlooks the sea from its 300 - 350 meters of altitude. The wines here exude intensity and ripeness, balanced by grippy tannins and Sangiovese's natural acidity.

The Riserva is made from hand harvested fruit, totally destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts. The wine matures for 48 months in untoasted, large format French oak, and spends an additional year in bottle before release.
The 2016 vintage was excellent in Tuscany with steady temperatures and a long growing season, resulting in perfect phenolic ripeness and harmonious wines that will age beautifully if cellared properly.

Violet, wild berry and sandalwood aromas come to the forefront along with new leather. Made with organically farmed grapes, the full-bodied, enveloping palate features ripe black cherry, licorice, mint and espresso framed in fine-grained, velvety tannins
