The Wine: Papillon is Orin Swift's Cabernet-based blend that’s composed of all five Bordeaux varieties. The goal was to incorporate all the majesty of Cabernet Sauvignon with the subtleties of Cabernet Franc and Merlot and the power of Petit Verdot and Malbec.
Paying respect to the Bordeaux varietals that made the Napa Valley what it is today, Papillon is our take on the classic five-varietal blend. Rich, lush and decadent, we strive to make the wine bipolar—big and brawny but also nuanced and delicate. Much like the label, the wine presents numerous juxtapositions; at one moment the entry hits you in the face with ripe fruit while the mid-palate presents an elegant counter. Quality vineyards from across the Napa Valley, including fruit from the Atlas Peak and St. Helena AVAs, encompass the blend.
