Laherte-Freres have become a rather iconic producer on the "grower Champagne" scene that has really expanded in recent years, at least in terms of attention from the conscious Champagne-lovers and wine critics of the world. The small 10 hectare domaine is based in Chavot, just south of Epernay, and its vineyards are biodynamically farmed. The focus is on making site expressive, mineral and energetic wines, rather than aiming at long lees-ageing for breadth and flesh.

This blanc de blancs is a blend of two vintages made from a terroir in home-base Chavot from chalk-heavy parcels, something which accentuates the racy character and saline minerality of the wine. Barrel fermented, aged for two years on lees and bottled with zero dosage, this is crunchy and lively as can be.

The review:
93 Points, Vinous
Laherte's NV Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs is one of the great under the radar wines in Champagne. It marries precision, tension and depth. Citrus peel, crushed rocks, mint, dried flowers and white pepper race across the palate. The Blanc de Blancs is a Champagne of tremendous stature and class that blends the best attributes of sites in Epernay and the Côtes des Blancs. Best of all, it's an insane value.
