Region: Yarra Valley, VIC
Grapes:
Pinot Gris 54%, Pinot noir 17.5%, Chardonnay 16.5%, Gewurztraminer 12%
First glance:
Idosyncratic, aromatic white / skin-contact blend

Grapes sourced from different sites throughout the Yarra, picked individually at desired ripeness, then co-fermented and blended in the winery. Gewürztraminer and part of the Pinot Gris are given 40 days skincontact, to add texture and deepen aromas.
After complete malo, the wine rests for 5 months in neutral wood, and is then bottled with minimal sulphites.

Winemakers notes: "Fever isn’t about one variety. By blending varieties we are increasing the interactions of the year and hopefully eliminating variety as a key feature.
2021 was a wetter than average year (...) rains were perfectly and evenly timed. The mild season avoided major heat spikes and produced healthy canopies and strong vines that ripened plentiful fruit. An exceptional vintage."

The Best Cellars view:
A one of a kind, new-wave style. Moderate orange hue with a pinkish tinge. Eclectic mix of citrus, both fresh and essential oils. Some autumn stone fruit accented by fresh herbs and spice. The Pinot Noir component adds a little red berry fruit to the mix. A lot going on, but always high drinkability and never too demanding.
